My wonderful DH and I have been together 7 amazing years this month. Not that most of my family recognizes this since we're not married... but that's a whole nother blog post! When we met I was 29 and he was 23. So 7 years later puts me at 36 and he's turning the big 3-0! I couldn't imagine celebrating his birthday any other way than blowing it up with is friends that I've gotten to know and love, at our favorite all time bar.
I started by making an awesome flyer to celebrate the event and sent it to everyone on Myspace. I messaged everyone on DH's Myspace and then secretly raided his phone. Which turned out more difficult than you would think! For one, DH has maxed out his contact list. There's at least 500 contacts in there! It took me 2 days to get to "J" and then another 2 days to finish texting everyone about the event.
I was excited that everything was falling into place when the morning before the party I received a call from a good friend who gave me really startling news! She said that she heard thru the grapevine that DH & his brother "N", were banned from the bar! My heart sank. I couldn't imagine having to recant or change the venue at this point. I also didn't want to stir the pot so to speak. So I emailed the bar owner who we know fairly well and I always thought we had an excellent relationship with. He never got back to me whether this was a problem or not, but happily posted the flyer on the front page of the bars website. So I could only imagine that everything was OK. The flyer I made turned into the peace banner that gave me the thumbs up!
I continued to text people about the party when I received a text back from someone else that DH and N were 86'd from the bar! I just told them that the owner was OK with it and hope to see them there! What else could I do? I still had butterflies just thinking about what would happen when we arrived. Why would they think the brothers were banned from the bar? Word had it that a couple of months ago N (DH's brother) was running his mouth about a friend of ours that overdosed and blamed it on the guys best friend. Well, that crap made it's way to the best friend who is totally distraught and the bar owner. I guess they said the brothers were banned! I still don't understand why DH would be banned if it was N that made the comments. But whatever, the show must go on! Fingers crossed there's no problems!
