Party Pooper or Party Success?

I hate throwing parties and rarely if ever do it.  I can count 2 times.  I mean bigger than just a few friends coming over and really having a party.  My biggest fear is that no one will show up. That happened at my second party.  I learned you have a better chance of people showing up if your party is NOT on a major holiday.  So I'm throwing this party for the DH.  Well deserved I might add!  I've texted and messaged everyone I can think up, more than 200 people!  DH knows a LOT of people!  And my first thought was well, if no one shows up at least his brother, sister and a couple of friends I KNEW would be there and it would be OK.  Now come to find out that's not my worst fear for this party... the worst fear is that everyone shows up and DH isn't allowed in the door to his own party!!! (Read previous post for more info!)

At this point it's the day of the party, and we're planning on just going out.  Haven't nailed down where because I don't want to seem pushy.  DH comes home from having to un-expectantly work, and is a little grumpy.  He has a beer and gets really tired.  Now he doesn't want to go out.  He says he especially doesn't want to go to THAT bar.  He says he doesn't have fun there anymore and none of his friends are ever there anymore.  Big baby doesn't want to go!  It took a LOT of bribing to get him moving and out the door... nothing but complaints about going to the bar!  But at least he's in the car, and I'm driving, so there's no where for him to run!

We get to the bar and friends outside run up to him and wish him a Happy Birthday.  Well, his birthday is still a week away but we'll be gone for that week.  So everyone is wishing him a happy birthday and he thinks Myspace screwed up a birthday announcement to everyone!  Ha!!!  I revealed then that this was his surprise 30th birthday party, and he was blown away...  Now to get in the door!

Long story short, there was no problem.  Even the people who mentioned there was a problem didn't show up.  Even the bar owner wasn't there.  It was smooth sailing and we all had a lot of fun!  DH's sister brought a big cake (that hilariously said "Happy Birthday Princess" with a crown), the band that played was pretty good, and some old friends showed up.  We had a blast!  Even moved the party down the street the a friends house when the bar closed and partied till 5:30am.  Good times, and DH was so incredibly thankful that I put this together.  It was perfect!

Later on I told him about the rumor and he was just as confused as I was.  Why do people like to reign on your parade?  Made me worry for nothing, and I have better things to do! The truce flyer I made was really cool and a great momento too!  Wish you were there!
